Scott Powers takes the Blackhawks Power Hour abroad for an episode. He recorded the latest episode from the World Championship in Russia. His guest is Julie Robenhymer, a hockey writer for a number of national outlets and someone who is quite familiar with the international hockey scene.

In the podcast, Powers and Robenhymer discuss the uniqueness to the Worlds on and off the ice, the interesting fans, especially from Finland, how the Czech Republic has surprised people throughout pool play, how the United States approaches the tournament and has endured some struggles this season, the debate about Auston Matthews or Patrik Laine for the No. 1 pick in the NHL draft, how Finland and Canada’s upcoming matchup could be a gold medal game preview, Finland’s attempt at a hat trick of international championships and about being in Russia in general.

The Blackhawks Power Hour is normally a Chicago Blackhawks’ podcast recorded by Brian Hedger and Scott Powers. It’s the only Blackhawks’ podcast done by reporters on the team’s beat. Scott Powers has been covering the Blackhawks since the 2012-13 season. He was a staff writer for ESPN Chicago from 2009-2015 and covered the team for three seasons. He is now a staff contributor for The Athletic in Chicago. He has also written for Today’s Slapshot, the Chicago Sun-Times, the Chicago Tribune, USA Hockey Magazine and other publications throughout the country. Brian Hedger is a veteran on the Blackhawks’ beat and has been writing about them since the 2009-10 season.  He is a correspondent for NHL.com. He has also written for the Chicago Sun-Times, Daily Herald, The Athletic and many other publications.
